Sharon and her sister came over to my place to do homework and I managed to finish all four science work sheets during that time =D I'm so proud. Her sister and made us play stratego with her. It was fun though. Yesterday I figured out the whole intro of a piano song by myself, including the left hand! I'm so proud ='] It actually sounds good if you asked me (I recorded my playing and listened to it. I went to Marpole Community Center today, and played a little bit of Rockband with my friends (I've only played that game once before, but violin skills really help with the guitar part =D). And now my arms are sore so I don't think my violin teacher will be really happy after hearing my playing tomorrow...

Sharon was supposed to come to my house today to practice a song for buskerfest, and I mentioned that she can get icecream/popisicles at my place... and Edward overheard that part... -___- so he tagged along. So we sat there eating ice cream and I think he found us a little too boring compared to him (which I think it's a good thing because that shows we're normal). After Edward left Sharon started trying the piano part for this song called "Always With Me", some song in a movie called "Spirited Away". It sounds really nice! Today was the track finals! I think I did okay... for my 1500m event anyways. Even though I only got seventh out of 12 people, I improved my time (5:47 minutes)! I got the best time for 1500 I've ever gotten (at least the times I've been timed), and I improved from last year's best time! It's still a ways off from first, but I'm pretty sure if I start training everyday I should at least be able to achieve fourth or third (I got fifth last year).

For 4x400, our team did okay. We still got sixth (out of 8 teams), but our time got worse by 5 seconds =[ It's okay though, we will train harder next year!

Yesterday Judy from synergy 8 tried to pull my leg off before the start of English class (she came into our classroom) because she wanted me to get my badminton racket. I refused to get it, since class was going to start soon, but then she knelt down and grabbed on to my leg and wouldn't let go! T^T other people coming in to the classroom didn't even try to help me, but a few of them started laughing... and sharon just seemed glad Judy wasn't bothering her =___= I managed to get rid of her in the end....

I just watched a NOVA video called "Secrets of Stonehenge", and it was very intriguing! It's about archaeologists trying to uncover the history of the giant stone circle in England, and how it's related to astronomy, and as well as death. There's another structure made of wooden stakes that is around two miles away from the Stonehenge, and it represents life, and both circles are connected by the river Avon. It's pretty cool, the way they try to reenact how the people of the stone age would have moved the giant blocks of stone.

I found it astounding that the archaeologists have such great skill! They can simply look at a bunch of rocks and determine what is what! One archaeologist spotted a tiny piece of bone in a pile of pebbles... I'm really interested in archaeology. It's really cool how people can determine the past of a civilization by looking at it's remains. Hmm... maybe I should do more research on this kind of stuff...

Today in track we met this grade eight girl who likes to talk... a lot. She is like the equivalent of Jacob except maybe two times worse o.o and I didn't think that was possible before this. She's really good at long distance though =D I saw her run during practice today... she is soo good. If I had her stamina, I would have gotten first in 1500m with no problem.

I earned $20 today =O that was for accompanying some seven year old kid practice violin. I think she just started for a few weeks, but she still can't find the notes by herself, so I have to tell her where to place her finger EVERY single time the note changes... I also have to tell her which string it's supposed to be on -__- She then insisted we take a break in the middle of it, and made me play a board game with her... but I ended the break 10 mins later by making her play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star again =D

The important thing is that this is my first time earning money from someone else and not my parents! I feel so proud... but I don't think I did a very good job guiding that little kid... but I'll learn right?

Today's track meet was... average... our team did pretty well in the 4x400 relay and qualified for finals. But for my individual 100m event, I was about 1 second slower than my normal time, and 2 seconds slower than my fastest time... I knew I didn't make top 8 before the results were out. There were around 30 people competing for 100m! I didn't expect THIS many... Right now my number one goal is to rest up for tomorrow. I'm just going to try my best for 1500m, and as for the 100m relay... well if I'm really close to collapsing by the time I finish 1500, I could always get someone to replace me =]

We went to a friend's house today to return the cardboard boxes we borrowed from them. They have a kid who's in grade eight who I've known since I was five. We weren't planning to stay there very long, but we ended up staying there until 11pm =] My friend showed me some games on his ipod, and played Stratego (that board game thats all about strategy and the objective is to capture the opponent's flag). I was losing at the beginning since I'm not all that bright when it comes to strategy games (that's why I don't try versing anyone in chess either -___-). I went to the bathroom during the game, and when I came back, my dad took over playing my side of the game, and eventually won for me =D so basically I won... heehee.

Yesterday my uncle came to help with the moving (we spent all day with moving.... it was sooo tiring) and brought along my two cousins. This morning my relay team (except for Allison) practiced passing batons at the track. I'm not used to passing, only receiving, because I'm usually the fourth person. Because of this, I almost ran in to Allison yesterday at the meet when I passed.

It was fun =D We're starting to pack everything up for moving starting tomorrow, and then all the big stuff will get moved on Saturday. Well today I finally finished my competitions for the Kiwanis Music Festival. Sigh... I had to miss my math class yesterday, which was when we had a partner quiz.... so now I have to make up a quiz without a partner, and what's worse is that there's a test tomorrow, and even worse is I have to leave early from math again tomorrow with an ED for track and field............

Today was the Sun Run! Due to me never having to run it before, I don't have experience of exactly how long it feels like to run it. At the beginning, I thought I was going to tire out so I went super slow, but I saw some churchill people passing me, so I thought I should start going faster. Also, someone tripped me along the way -___- and their shoe left a cut on my leg... In the end, I didn't know when to start sprinting, so when I saw the finish line there wasn't much of a distance left for me to sprint anymore o.o ............................ so anyways, my time was 58 minutes, which I guess, isn't all that bad but I'm pretty sure I could have done better...

I feel I've slightly redeemed myself today at the track meet =] According to Sharon I was fifth or sixth in 1500m (I sort of doubt it though...) but I still have a lot to improve on. I improved 10 seconds faster from the last meet, but still ten seconds slower than my best time last year... man I suck. But I got second in the 100m race! At least I know I'm starting to fight back! I really hope to see my time for that though. I don't want to be happy just because I was racing people relatively slow people. and by the way... what does KOTW mean?

Yesterday's track meet was okay... Our 4 by 100 team got 3rd, or in other words, last, because there were only three teams in our heat... I swear I tried my best to catch up in the end, it was close too... Ah well. In discus I beat my best distance from last year by four meters so that's good, but I'm still far from the others.

Yesterday my parents spent most of their day at our newly bought apartment probably cleaning and getting ready to paint the walls. My room at that place is considerably smaller than the apartment we are renting now, but the bathrooms are considerably bigger o.O The bathroom near my room is about two times larger than the bathroom we have now... TRACK. WAS. BAD. For 1500m, I didn't have any energy left to sprint to the finish (I think I got 8th or 9th out of around... 12 or 15 people?), and afterwards I almost puked -___- . Because I was too tired, I couldn't run the 4 by 400m relay. Then afterwards, for the 100m, I got last place! I couldn't believe it! That's the first last place I've gotten for running, since I could remember! Ahhh what happened to me =[ I've made up my mind to start training from now on! And I'm dragging Laurie along with me =D

I think I posted about Ray before, but I'm pretty sure I got it wrong... So the connection... was it something about how celebrities still have problems with drugs today? I don't really know how to elaborate on that connection though... what I thought about the movie, was that Ray kept on quitting work places because they weren't giving him adequet pay... I'm not sure how that relates to anything, but most people should be afraid of losing their jobs, but Ray seemed pretty confident that he would find a better band to join after he quits his last one... well it's probably he knows he has talent.

Aaah tomorrow is the first track meet of the season, and I am nooot prepared! Tomorrow I have 1500m first thing and then 1 by 400m right after, and a little while later, 100m sprints! Yea I survived this last year, but looking on my physical condition right now....nah. I couldn't even survive the long distance training our track coach told us to do (well I guess it was partly because of a cramp and partly I sprinted 3 laps for warm up in PE...cuz I thought I needed practice). Plus with all that training done today, everybody is bound to be the least bit sore tomorrow...

I filled out my Pre-IB form today. Honestly I'm a little scared.... I'm pretty bad at handling pressure, and I haven't gotten rid of my last minute habit yet. Aiya even my drawing teacher noticed I got tanned -____-. Also, my skin's been kind of dry probably because of the sun in San Diego. The performances were all out doors, so we had to sit underneath the intense beams of sun light. Today, I also realized handwriting doesn't seem so natural any more, because I haven't been writing anything on my trip... this is probably why I dislike travelling... Yesterday, we went to Sea World! It was so fun! I got to see all kinds of animals perform, including sea lions (they were the most hilarious XD), orcas, and dolphins. I also rode on a rollercoaster ride. .... aaand I got tanned and slightly sunburnt..... =[

Ah gotta catch up on the blogging here. I'm not back in Vancouver yet though. So after the last blog (which was about the golden gate bridge) the next day we went to Universal Studios Hollywood. Once again, I've been there once before. This time it's to show my grandparents. I took a picture with Dora this time though XD ! (you know, dora the explorer) lol I'm going to show that picture to my little cousin and she is going to get soooo jelous >=P I also went on some rollercoaster rides with my dad, but none of them were all that thrilling because they all lasted such a short time. Today, we drove to San Francisco and went to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was really cool (even though I've already been there once before... this trip is mainly to show my grandparents around)! I love the thrill of looking down at the ground from the bridge high high above, and the strong wind makes you feel like you're about to be blown off! Theres also the prison island that is near the bridge that I forgot the name of. It used to be a prison until I think the 1960's? It's pretty cool. It's like a fort on a tiny island. I love historical buildings like these. Then we went back to the car and I... slept........ so I don't know what happened in that time period. Oh yes, we also went to an open house in San Francisco! =D My mom wanted to see what the inside of the houses looked like here. It turned out that that house was built in 1912! Almost a hundred years old! The agent said during the time the last owners lived here, they didn't even have to paint the ceiling, or have any major problems. The ceilings don't even have a tiny crack in them, and to think it survived an earthquake that happened there in 1989 (I think)... wow...

Aaah I got addicted to the piano! I printed out a sheet music of a song and tried to learn it myself today, and I've only figured out the melody part of it, but it's so fun! Piano seems so much more interesting than violin >.>

My cousins came over for a sleep over today... I wanted a peaceful and quiet spring break where I can just relax... but looks like that's not going to happen now...

Yesterday I spend about four hours at Sharon's house. The weird thing is, apparently I'm supposed to have been to her new house already (even her mom remembered that I went there before) but I don't even faintly remember o.O
Anyways. First, Sharon taught me how to play twinkle twinkle little star on the piano, which I spent about 5 minutes just to figure out the first line -__- (yes I know... but I'm planning to start learning piano soon). Then I tried playing her violin, which was, no offence, one of the worst quality violins I have ever seen =__= it didn't even have fine tuning, the bridge is kind of not centred, and the tuning pegs at the top of the violin didn't stay in place long enough to finish playing a song.... so basically about twenty minutes was spent on tuning it. And I can't believe how small her sister's violin is! It's like half the size of my violin, and it just looks like a toy or a minature!
Then we played monkey in the middle 8D Her sister was monkey for more than most of the time. We felt so sorry for her! She was just spinning around in circles while the ball was passed between us and it looked so hilarious =D

Yesterday, my parents took me to the apartment that we bought and are planning to move into next month. It looked pretty nice, and it's even closer to the school then my current place. Also, pets are allowed there! I've always wanted pets! I just hope my mom would agree to a hamster.

We were originally interested in an apartment in Richmond, but I persuaded my parents other wise, because Vancouver is waaay over due for an earthquake, and as soon as an earthquake hits Richmond is going bye bye.

Yesterday I was at my friend's house, and we were watching the news. All of the news was on Japan, and there were frequent updates on what was happening. Some info they gave was so shocking. Like, the earthquake moved the entire island of Japan 8 feet to the east. Also, the earthquake changed the spinning earth's axis by 4 inches... It's so sad... also the pictures of the earthquake's effects on the land was... indescribable

The only days I like in the week are day 2s and saturdays. Day 2s because I have PE. I like Saturday because that's my relatively free day. On Friday I have to spend hours doing theory after school because my violin/theory class is on Saturday morning. Sunday I have to spend my hours not at drawing class doing homework for Monday and Tuesday. Only on Saturdays after violin class in the morning I can sit back and relax.

Today, after the normal track and field practice, there is optional throwing practices, like discus, shot put, etc. but I decided not to go since I want to get home and finish my homework early. But when I got to the changing room, I realized Laurie was still at softball tryout and I'm sharing a locker with her! So then I decided to go throw some discus and wait for her to finish...
I like discus actually! It's fun, and it doesn't require as much arm strength as shot put or javelin, just more technique to get the discus spinning nicely.

All I could think about today was that really creepy movie we saw. I think it was called The Shining? Those two little girls were really freaky. This is a continuation of the thoughts on the movie with no characters or dialogue. (I don't recall the name of the movie...)

The movie had no plot, specific characters, and no words at all. In the beginning I was really confused as to what was going on and it made no sense to me. But as we got farther in to the movie it started to make some sense, because I started to see how each scene was related, so I guess I put parts of the movie together to make common themes. So in the movie, first there were scenes of nature and everything was peaceful. Then the scenes get busier and busier until it showed streets and buildings crowded hundreds or thousands of tiny cars and humans, moving so fast they look like ants. I actually kind of like this movie, because it can be interpreted in many different ways as to what it meant because there is nothing in the movie that tells you exactly what this movie is about. When people are not told what to think they let their imaginations run, and it really gets people thinking about it even way after the movie is over.

The movie first showed all kinds of beautiful scenery and ended with oceans of people and cars. I think this movie showed the evolution of people's lives. And in the end, people just went about their daily business with out interacting or acknowledging one another at all, where as in the beginning everything was peaceful, which I guess symbolizes people actually had time to enjoy these beautiful things. People are too much in a rush these days to remember to enjoy life and make time to love those around you.

Ok now I'm going to blog about Space Odessey. Even though we watched the explanation of it, I only understood a little about the explanation so most of this is what I got from the movie

So the music that constantly appears throughout the movie symbolizes the unknown and possibly something is about to happen? Or maybe it symbolizes the time in between each stage of evolution.
The face of "Jesus" was on a machine. Jesus was a savior that people believed in since centuries ago. The fact that Jesus' face appeared on this machine probably symbolized that human's were starting from the beginning again, but in space. In the explanation, it said that in space, human's are like fish out of water, and have to learn everything from the start.
The obelisk that appeared in the beginning with the apes, and at the end in that room symbolized that there were extraterrestrial life out there, and humans weren't alone.

The reason I took so long to understand this movie, was most likely because I'm used to movies with characters with personalities, and a story line, and also with much more dialogue. I've come to like this movie after the explanations because I realized this movie was so much more meaningful than most of the other movies I've watched


Also... I'm not sure how or what to do for the character thing...

I honestly don't know how Christ and the Space Odyssey are related... I'm pretty sure I tried hard to understand the movie and not make a mistake in knitting at the same time but I still don't have a really vague idea of what the movie is about. I just know there were monkeys, and then there was a bunch of people on a jupiter mission. Then the Christ face appeared but I don't know why, and I didn't even see a Mary carrying Christ in her arms... But I swear I was trying to pay attention!

My parents took me to the doctor to check up on my hand to confirm that there aren't any broken bones. The doctor could have broken my hand even if it wasn't broken trying to feel if there were any cracks in them ._. It really hurt, like, alot, and I was trying not to scream while he squeezed the parts that were bruised. And the doctor told me to squeeze his hand. Obviously I can't use a lot of strength, so he was like "come on did you eat anything today?" Wow I came here to check for broken bones and he accuses me of having no strength in my hand? Today was okay. Except for two things. The assembly made me miss half of my PE class, the best class in my opinion (I like applied skills too, just PE better X] ) AND all the Synergy people were excluded from the honor role and the principal's list COMPLETELY! WHY?
